Start with the route, not the lift
Measure the appliance, doorways, hallways, landings, and any turns before moving day. Remove loose rugs, cords, and trip hazards, and make sure the path is dry and well lit.
A stair-climbing dolly helps manage weight on stairs, but it does not make a heavy item a one-person job. Have enough capable help for the item and the route, and stop if the move becomes unstable.
Prepare the appliance
Empty and secure drawers, doors, shelves, and hoses. Disconnect utilities safely and follow the manufacturer’s moving instructions. Protect corners and finished surfaces with moving pads or blankets.
Keep the appliance upright whenever the manufacturer requires it. If an appliance must be tilted during transport, follow its manufacturer guidance before turning it back on.
Use the equipment correctly
Center the load on the dolly, secure it with an appropriately rated strap, and keep hands and feet clear of pinch points. Move slowly, communicate every step, and do not rush stairs, curbs, or thresholds.
If you are unsure whether the equipment or your crew is right for the job, choose a professional mover instead. A careful plan protects people, the appliance, and the home.
